Mikie Sherrill is committed to policies that will keep families safe and healthy.
Sherrill is a U.S. Navy veteran who spent nearly ten years on active duty. As a Sea King Helicopter pilot, she flew missions in the Middle East and Europe. She later became an attorney who joined the U.S. Attorney’s Office as an Outreach and Reentry Coordinator and an Assistant U.S. Attorney, prosecuting federal cases and advising law enforcement. She has been an outspoken critic of the Trump Administration’s rollbacks of environmental protections that threaten clean air, clear water, and public lands.
In Congress, Sherrill will prioritize growing New Jersey’s clean energy economy and advocate for policies to address climate change and protect clean air and water for New Jersey families. She will oppose offshore drilling and fight to build a clean energy economy.
Sherrill joins the U.S. House to fill the seat of retiring Representative Rodney Frelinghuysen, who earned a 31% lifetime score on LCV’s National Environmental Scorecard.
In her own words:
“Our community deserves to know that they have a leader in Congress focused on protecting our environment and growing our clean energy economy. New Jersey has produced some of the greatest scientists and innovative technologies in our history, and we can continue that legacy by focusing on investments in clean energy technology.”
