Mike Levin

California- District 49

Mike Levin is a lifelong champion of environmental progress and has worked for more than a decade for sustainable energy.

Levin previously served as executive director of the Orange County Democratic Party before working at the clean energy companies Better Energy Systems and Ener-Core. Levin co-founded Sustain OC, a nonprofit that supports the renewable energy technology industry in Orange County. He has also served on the board of directors of the Center for Sustainable Energy and the California Hydrogen Business Council. He most recently served as the Director of Government Affairs at FuelCell Energy.

As a representative, Levin will bring his extensive experience in the clean energy industry to Congress and be a champion on the issues of sustainability and climate change. He will advocate to explore a carbon tax, cap-and-trade policies, and long-term solutions to remove nuclear waste from the coast. He will support clean energy and a transition away from fossil fuels. He will also fight to end subsidies to oil companies and hold the Trump Administration accountable for its rollbacks of environmental protections.

Levin joins the U.S. House after defeating Diane Harkey who earned a spot on LCV’s House Dirty Dozen. He  fills the seat of retiring Representative Darrell Issa, who earned a 4% lifetime score on LCV’s National Environmental Scorecard.

In his own words:

For the last decade, I have been involved in the clean energy industry as an attorney and non-profit founder and director, and I will be a champion in Washington on issues of sustainability and climate change and their impact on our economy, health, and security.  I want to put our district at the forefront of clean energy economic growth.
