Joe Morelle has a proven track record of protecting clean air, clean water, and open spaces.
Morelle has been a vocal opponent of the Trump Administration’s rollbacks of environmental protections. As a member of the state assembly, he has voted in favor of initiatives that will ensure environmental protections for future generations, including the Climate and Community Protection Act and bills that ban offshore drilling and fracking.
As a representative, he will be a strong ally for climate action, advocate for the United States to rejoin the Paris Climate Agreement. Morelle will also fight to significantly reduce national carbon emissions and protect clean energy incentive programs.
Morelle joins the U.S. House to fill the vacant seat of Representative Louise Slaughter, who passed away in March. Slaughter earned a 91% lifetime score on LCV’s National Environmental Scorecard.
In his own words:
“That is why in Congress I will work tirelessly to advance laws that protect clean water and preserve our open spaces. I will fight to reduce carbon pollution, support efforts to increase reliance on clean, renewable energies, and ensure that climate solutions do not disproportionately impact American workers and vulnerable communities.”
