Greg Stanton

Arizona - District 9

Greg Stanton is a dedicated public servant and proven leader on environmental issues.

As mayor of Phoenix, he passed a climate action plan that will enable the city to become carbon-neutral, by 2050. He also undertook a range of environmentally friendly initiatives, like changing more than 10,000 city streetlights to LEDs and expanding Phoenix’s solar energy capacity. Last year, when the Trump Administration announced that it would withdraw the United States from the Paris Climate Agreement, Stanton was one of the first mayors in the country to announce that his city would remain committed to achieving the agreement’s goals, in order to reduce greenhouse-gas emissions.

In Congress, Stanton will continue to fight for the clean energy economy and support renewable energy sources. He also hopes to promote wind energy resources to boost renewable energy production and to create jobs.

Stanton joins the U.S. House to fill the seat of Representative Kyrsten Sinema, who earned a 78% lifetime score on LCV’s National Environmental Scorecard and ran to represent Arizona in the U.S. Senate.

In his own words:

As Mayor of Phoenix, I’ve worked to build a sustainable economy by incentivizing green jobs, defending our environment, and supporting a clean energy future.
