David Trone is a champion of environmental issues in Maryland, where he is a lifelong resident.
Trone believes that protecting our environment is crucial for the future of the United States. He has been an outspoken opponent of the Trump Administration’s decision to withdraw from the Paris Agreement and a strong advocate of environmental preservation. Previously, he served as the president of Total Wine & More, a retail chain that he co-founded with his brother.
In Congress, Trone will be a leader for climate action by prioritizing initiatives like reinstating the Clean Power Plan and championing funding for the EPA. He will also work to make federal buildings energy efficient, to keep standards for fuel efficiency in place, and to increase accessibility to renewable energy sources.
Trone joins the U.S. House to fill the seat of retiring Representative John Delaney, who received a 94% lifetime score on LCV’s National Environmental Scorecard.
In his own words:
“The Chesapeake Bay is a vital natural resource not only to Marylanders but to all Americans and the federal government must play a role in its preservation. Protecting our environment is crucial. Climate change is real and it’s a serious threat to our economy and our way of life.”
